There are 3 major types of SEO. This includes on-page SEO, technical SEO, and off-page SEO. A balanced SEO strategy for organic search results will include all 3 types. This is because all 3 have their different roles or advantages as discussed below:
On-Page SEO
On-page SEO deals with the content of your website and refers to the practice of optimizing individual web pages in order to rank higher in search engines search results and draw more traffic to your website. A well optimized content helps search engines to understand your website, determine how relevant it is to your audience and then rank you accordingly. On-page SEO on its own might not be enough to make your website very attractive to search engines. Other types of SEO including technical and off-page SEO are also required.
On-Page SEO involves the following:
- Keyword search and optimization
- Writing and publishing quality content based on target keyword
- Making sure content is readable and appealing to user. For this, use simple language, images (at least one) and break content into appropriate sections using subheadings.
- Add an optimized meta title and description
- Assign tags and categories in case of a blog post
- Add internal links using anchor text or external links to high quality or authority websites.
- Use SEO friendly URL
Technical SEO
Technical SEO has nothing to do with the content of your website. Instead, it deals with optimizing your website’s backend structure and server. It involves practices meant to improve readability, site visibility, search engine crawling and indexing.
Technical SEO deals with the following:
- Speed optimization to reduce page load time
- Responsive design to make sure content fits properly on every screen size
- XML sitemap to make it easy for search engine bots to find you
- Search engine crawling and indexing
- Organization and content delivery of your website
- Website security. Make sure your site uses an https protocol.
Off-Page SEO
Off-page SEO also referred to as off-site SEO involves practices outsite your website which help to strenghten the relationship between your website and other websites or between your website and target audience. This affects search engine’s or users perception and builds reputation, trustworthiness or authority.
Off-page SEO involves:
- High-quality backlinks. Links pointing to your site from high authority and relevant website is an indication to search engines that your website is relevant and established.
- Social media marketing
- Guest Blogging
To get real results in your SEO strategy, you need to make use of all 3 types of SEO in one way or the order.
